Complaint and Grievance Process

Centerville ISD believes the best solutions often come from open, respectful conversations at the campus or department level. While we always encourage individuals to work together to resolve concerns informally, we also recognize that there are times when a formal review may be necessary.

In those cases, Centerville ISD provides a formal grievance process to ensure concerns are reviewed thoroughly, fairly, and in accordance with Board policies and applicable state and federal laws. Grievance forms may be submitted electronically or in person, in accordance with state law. Both online and printable versions are available below in the “Initiate a Grievance” section for your convenience.

Please review the corresponding CISD Board Policy below for complete information on time requirements, filing deadlines, and the grievance process:

 

Initiate a Grievance

  • If the issue is not resolved informally, you may file a formal grievance with the lowest level administrator who has the authority to remedy the alleged problem. In most circumstances, Level One complaints shall be filed with the campus principal.

    Grievances must be filed using the District form provided below or through online submission. Forms can also be obtained at the CISD District Administration Office.

    Completed forms can be submitted by hand delivery, electronic communication, or U.S. Mail to the appropriate administrator within the time established in FNG(LOCAL), All complaints will be heard in accordance with FNG(LEGAL) and FNG(LOCAL) or any exceptions outlined therein.

  • Informal resolution is encouraged but does not extend any deadlines in DGBA(LOCAL), except by mutual written consent. 

    Whistleblower complaints must be filed within the time specified by law and may be made to the Superintendent or designee beginning at Level Two.

    A complaint form that is incomplete in any material way may be refiled with the District upon completeion if the refiling is within the designated time for filing a complaint.

    Grievances must be filed using the District form provided below or through online submission to begin the grievance process. Forms can also be obtained at the CISD District Administration Office.

    Completed forms can be submitted by hand delivery, electronic communication, or U.S. Mail to the appropriate administrator within the time established in DGBA(LOCAL), All complaints will be heard in accordance with DGBA(LEGAL) and DGBA(LOCAL) or any exceptions outlined therein.

  • If the issue is not resolved informally, you may file a formal grievance using the form below to initiate the complaint regardless of the level at which the complaint begins.

    Completed forms can be submitted by hand delivery, electronic communication, U.S. Mail to the appropriate administrator or by using the Online Submission Form within the time established in GF(LOCAL)Forms can also be obtained at the CISD District Administration Office.

    All complaints will be heard in accordance with GF(LEGAL) and GF(LOCAL) or any exceptions outlined therein.
